SLES8 loads just fine on our DL 170 and DL 360 machines - what would the difference be

Turns out this problem does exhibit itself on the 2650's and 6650's, anything with a megaraid card. We even tried our PERC3/QC "certified by SuSE" cards; still didn't fix the problem.
Our next stop is, unfortunately, RedHat. If that works, I'm going to cry. :(
